A seven-year-old boy has been killed after he stepped off a bus with his mother.
Nathan Smith was hit by a Peugeot van and was taken to hospital with serious injuries where he later died.
The boy, who was from Lingdale, in Redcar and Cleveland, was on Boosbeck High Street when the incident happened on Friday night.
A 22-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and has been bailed.
Cleveland Police have appealed for any witnesses, particularly anyone on the 4B Arriva bus to Skelton, to come forward to assist their investigation.
