Kanye West Booed At Wireless Music Festival

Written By Unknown on Minggu, 06 Juli 2014 | 00.57

US rapper Kanye West was booed as he launched into an expletive-ridden rant at London's Wireless Festival.

The newly-married star launched into a tirade against the media and against the way, he said, people 'look at him' at the event in Finsbury Park.

Wearing a mask, he said: "I'm not particularly angry but they've taken the idea of celebrity and tried to make me seem like I'm stupid or something.

"People keep looking at me like I got a problem or something, like I'm not doing something I'm meant to.

"The lies, the media, they want to make you feel like you're less to them in their eye."

His comments on Friday night come just weeks after West and his new wife Kim Kardashian had their wedding filmed by the channel which broadcasts her reality TV show.

Since then, there have been contradictory reports that the pictures of his wedding were for sale.

The rapper, who played hits including Gold Digger and Stronger, also attacked fashion brands Nike and Louis Vuitton.

In 2013, he ended a long-running partnership with Nike to sign a deal with rival Adidas for a reported $10m (£6m).

He continued: "Don't discriminate against me 'cos I'm a black man or a celebrity.

"I'm not going to mention Nike or say names but if you're creative, want to create more, this is exactly what I'm talking about. They say, 'No no no ******, that's too much'.

"It's about my dreams, it's about creating, not about the idea of being a ******* celebrity.

"That wasn't my fault about Nike - they tried to control me. I just want to make something awesome, hang around my awesome friends and save the world.

"A lot of people don't realise they own power, they own connection. They say, 'How can Kanye go down his whole career and say so much vile ****?' It's because I got the Clique," he said before performing his track, Clique.

The rapper later showed a softer side when he mentioned his wife's name several times as he performed his track Runaway/If You Love Someone Tonight, which failed to make the UK top 40.

Others who played the festival included Pharrell Williams, Tinie Tempah, Iggy Azalea and Basement Jaxx.

Shortly after the gig ended there was also chaos around Finsbury Park Tube station which had been closed for planned maintenance works.

Ukrainian Flag 'Is Raised In Rebel Stronghold'

Ukrainian government forces have said they re-gained control of the rebel stronghold of Slavyansk.

The defence minister said Ukrainian soldiers hoisted the national flag over the town after pushing most pro-Russia insurgents out.

"A minute ago the Ukrainian national flag was raised over the Slavyansk city council before a line-up of Ukrainian soldiers," said a statement posted on the Ukrainian administration's website, citing Defence Minister Valeriy Geletey.

The town in eastern Ukraine has been at the centre of the fighting between Kiev's troops and the separatists.

Andrei Purgin, of the separatist Donetsk People's Republic, told the AP news agency that rebels were evacuating, but claimed the army's campaign had left the city "in ruins".

Ukrainian officials said the offensive was continuing as small groups of rebels were hiding in buildings.

President Petro Poroshenko's website said the separatist fighters had come under mortar fire as they tried to break through government forces' lines.

The website, citing the newly appointed head of the armed forces general staff, said the separatists had lost one tank and other armoured vehicles.

Earlier, a Ukrainian minister had said the rebels and a top commander had fled, though a rebel spokesman said they were relocating to a nearby town.

The rebels reportedly fled to nearby town of Kramatorsk, but the Reuters news agency said a convoy of about 20 vehicles and buses filled with armed rebels was seen driving out of the town.

If confirmed, regaining control of the area would represent a major success in the government's three-month offensive against the separatists.

Separatists seized the industrial city of nearly 120,000 people on April 6, and on May 30 rebels there brought down a military helicopter killing 14 servicemen.

This week, Ukraine's ceasefire with pro-Russian separatists expired and Mr Poroshenko said his forces would go on the offensive against the rebels.

But, amid increasing violence, Mr Poroshenko on Friday called for immediate crisis talks with rebel commanders and Russia.

Cavendish Takes Heavy Fall In Tour De France

Mark Cavendish's Tour De France could be in doubt after he suffered a heavy fall in the first stage of the race, which began today in Yorkshire.

The Manx rider collided with Australian Simon Gerrans in the final 500 metres but eventually cycled painfully across the line clutching his midrift.

The 29-year-old has been taken to hospital to check the extent of his injuries.

Mark Cavendish There is no official word yet on Cavendish's condition

The stage ended in Harrogate - the home town of Cavendish's mother - and was won by German ride Marcel Kittel. Team Sky's Chris Froome finished sixth.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and Prince Harry were among the large crowds cheering on the world's top cyclists as the race began in Leeds.

Two million people are expected to line the roads this weekend as the Yorkshire hosts the first two stages of the prestigious event.

Some 198 riders in 22 teams were in the middle of Leeds for the start - but the teams did not compete for the first eight miles.

The race proper began in the grounds of 18th century stately home Harewood House where the royals chatted with lead riders, including reigning British champion Chris Froome and Mark Cavendish.

There was a display by the world-famous Red Arrows RAF aerobatic team and Kate cut the ribbon to officially start the race.

The cyclists were then sent on their way in the "Grand Depart".

Scores of towns and villages along the 190km opening stage were packed as the peloton travelled through the Yorkshire Dales to the finish in Harrogate.

Several injuries to spectators have been reported, with a woman in her 40s falling through a roof in Skipton, according to North Yorkshire Police.

She was flown to hospital by air ambulance and is thought to have sustained head injuries. However they are not thought to be serious.

Officers believe she had climbed out of a window onto the roof.

A teenage boy in Ilkley also suffered leg injuries when he was hit by a team vehicle in the Tour convoy, said West Yorkshire Police.

He was also flown to hospital and police are investigating. He is said to be in a stable condition.

On Sunday, the Tour riders arrive in York for a 201km stage taking in some of the most challenging climbs in Britain, ending in Sheffield.

And on Monday, the Tour moves south to Cambridge and a 155km stage ending on The Mall, in central London.

There was some rain in Yorkshire earlier in the day but the weather conditions seemed more favourable later.

Fears the narrow roads and stone walls in the Yorkshire Dales National Park would be too dangerous for the cyclists were dismissed by five-times Tour de France winner Bernard Hinault.

He told Sky News the challenges that Yorkshire poses were just part of the race.

"It's for the riders to adapt to the route, not for the route to adapt to the riders," he said.

Local businesses have been warned to expect up to 700 cars per hour trying to get into what are usually relatively isolated villages, with road closures for the race causing added problems.

Tens of thousands of tents and caravans squeezed into fields where sheep and cattle usually graze after officials relaxed the area's strict planning regulations for the weekend.

The Welcome to Yorkshire tourism agency predicts the event, which is watched by billions of TV viewers around the world, will bring £100m into Yorkshire's economy.

The race ends in Paris on July 27.

All eyes will be on Britain's Chris Froome to see if he can take the title for Team Sky for the second successive year.

It would mark a third straight British win, after Bradley Wiggins rode to victory in 2012.

Rolf Harris Faces New Sex Abuse Allegations

By Enda Brady, Sky News Reporter

Police have confirmed that they are investigating fresh allegations of abuse against the disgraced entertainer Rolf Harris.

The 84-year-old Australian was jailed for five years and nine months for a string of sex attacks on young girls spanning three decades.

Harris - who had denied the charges - showed no emotion as he was told by Mr Justice Sweeney at Southwark Crown Court in London that his "reputation lies in ruins".

Detectives from Operation Yewtree are now looking at the new claims, while at least a dozen women have contacted a law firm alleging that Harris also abused them.

The NSPCC has reported that a total of 28 people have called their telephone helpline this week with information and allegations against Harris since his conviction on Monday.

Sarah Symonds Sarah Symonds, a Max Clifford victim, says jail terms don't reflect crimes

The Attorney General has confirmed that he has received a complaint about the sentence passed on Harris and has 28 days to decide whether or not to refer it to the Court of Appeal for being "unduly lenient".

On Friday it was revealed that sexual images had been found on Harris' computer that were alleged to be of young girls but prosecutors had decided not to take action.

One of the four victims he has been convicted of attacking was just seven or eight years old at the time of the offence.

Mr Justice Sweeney said Harris had abused the trust placed in him because of his celebrity status - and had shown no remorse.

Mr Justice Sweeney told the shamed performer: "Your reputation lies in ruins, you have been stripped of your honours, but you have no one to blame but yourself."

Lord Brocket, who spent time in jail for fraud, told Sky News Harris will have been shocked by what he would have found after arriving at prison - he began his sentence at Wandsworth prison in south London.

He told Sky News: "When he arrives in prison, that's when he really will realise his world has collapsed and changed completely.

"He will get a pretty rough reception. There will be a lot of shouting at him, quite a lot of verbal ... and he will feel very vulnerable."

Sarah Symonds, who was a victim of Max Clifford, said Harris' sentence was an example of one that did not take victims into consideration.

She said: "When you think about it, this man has got five years, nine months, he'll be out in three. The victims have a life sentence. And people don't realise the impact."

First Video Of ISIS Group Leader Al Baghdadi

Jihadist group ISIS has released a video apparently showing the first public appearance of its elusive leader Abu Bakr al Baghdadi.

In the Ramadan sermon footage, said to have been filmed in a mosque in the Iraqi city of Mosul on Friday, he calls on all Muslims to obey him.

Baghdadi, the self-proclaimed caliph of a state straddling Iraq and Syria, is increasingly seen as more powerful than al Qaeda's leader.

The 21-minute video's release on the internet follows reports he was killed or injured in an attack.

The recording shows a bearded man in a black robe and black turban ascending a pulpit below the black flag of the Islamic State.

If confirmed, it would be Baghdadi's first public appearance.

Omar al-Shishani Omar al Shishani has appeared in recent propaganda videos released by ISIS

"God has granted your brothers, the mujahedin, victory and a conquest after years of patience and holy struggle, and enabled them to achieve their objective," he said.

"I was appointed in charge of you, though I am not the best or better than you, so if you see me in the right, then help me, and if you see me in the wrong, advise me and put me right."

The Iraqi government said the video is "indisputably" not Baghdadi.

"We have analysed the footage ... and found it is a farce," said Interior Ministry spokesman Brigadier General Saad Maan.

In an audio tape released last week, Baghdadi called on Muslims to take up arms and flock to the caliphate ISIS has declared on captured Syrian and Iraqi soil.

Reyaad Khan Reyaad Khan has had his assets frozen by the UK government

Baghdadi, born in Samarra in 1971 according to US intelligence, joined the insurgency sparked by the 2003 invasion of Iraq.

At one point he spent time in an American military prison in Iraq.

In 2005, American forces said they had killed "Abu Dua", one of his known aliases, on the Iraq-Syria border.

The US Treasury declared him a terrorist three years ago, and there is now a $10m (£5.9m) bounty on his head.

The video comes as three British citizens thought to be fighting alongside ISIS in Syria have had their assets frozen by the UK Treasury.

Reyaad Khan and Nasser Muthana, both 20 and from Cardiff, and Abdul Raqib Amin, who grew up in Aberdeen, were seen in a propaganda video released by ISIS last month.

Mother's Shock After 'Israelis Beat Up Boy'

The mother of a 15-year-old boy allegedly beaten up by Israeli security forces has told Sky News she had been in "a complete state of shock".

Tariq Abu Khadair is said to have been punched and kicked in a suspected attack by two police officers that was caught on amateur video.

His family claim he is a US citizen and the cousin of 16-year-old Arab teenager Mohammed Abu Khadir who was found dead earlier this week.

Palestinians say Mohammed was killed by Israeli extremists in a revenge attack following the alleged Hamas killing of three Israeli youths. The attack led to three days of violent protests.

Tests on Saturday showed he was burned alive, according Palestinian media reports.

The Israeli police are investigating the mobile phone footage of Tariq in east Jerusalem, which was released by a human rights group that described it as state sanctioned violence against children.

Tariq's mother, Sohair Abu Khadair, told Sky News that at least one officer did not want her to see her son at the police station.

She said: "I was in a complete state of shock. I couldn't believe it.

"There was a police officer in front of his room door that didn't want to let me in to see him until my husband had spoke to him.

"And then he finally said 'you can go in, just don't touch him, don't speak to him, don't get near him'. He was handcuffed. His ankles were handcuffed to the bed."

The family claim the teenager will be visited by American officials.

Micky Rosenfeld, national spokesperson for the Israeli police, told Sky News the video was "edited" and "biased".

Mr Rosenfeld said: "It does not represent the events that took place before the actual arrest."

He added: "Throughout the day in east Jerusalem there were hundreds of rioters, many of them masked, that hurled pipe bombs, Molotov cocktails, fireworks and stones at our police officers.

"And as a result of that, 15 police officers were injured during clashes by Palestinians.

"The suspect himself was one of six masked Palestinians that were arrested by undercover police officers. Three of them were armed at the time."

Independent Legal Figure To Assess Dossier Hunt

The Home Office says it will appoint a senior legal figure to assess the department's handling of a dossier alleging historical child abuse involving senior figures at Westminster.

It follows David Cameron's call for a fresh look at how the Home Office dealt with claims about paedophile activity by powerful and famous figures in the 1980s.

Prime Minister David Cameron. Mr Cameron is under pressure to launch a full public inquiry

But Labour leader Ed Miliband has told Sky News that as well as a "thorough review" of what happened at the Home Office, there must also be a wider look at child protection.

Earlier, the Prime Minister faced criticism for an "inadequate" investigation into what happened to the dossier.

David Cameron said he wanted Mark Sedwill, the permanent secretary to the Home Office, to do "everything he can" to get to the truth.

It followed an independent review carried out last year which failed to find the dossier, but provided a number of findings about correspondence between the Home Office and an MP who made the allegations.

Mr Sedwill wrote to Mr Cameron acknowledging his request and said the independent legal figure was being appointed to provide the additional reassurance he needed.

Cyril Smith Allegations of sex abuse have been made against the late Cyril Smith

Mr Sedwill said: "I will engage a senior independent legal figure to assess whether the review's conclusions remain sound. I aim to make the appointment within the next week."

The Government has been under pressure to act after claims that a list of names of suspected child abusers, including high-profile men in the establishment, was passed by the MP Geoffrey Dickens to the then-home secretary Leon (now Lord) Brittan.

Lord Brittan admitted he had received the dossier and passed it on to officials - but no action was ever taken.

Labour MP Simon Danczuk, whose campaign raised the issue of what happened to the Dickens' file at a hearing of the Commons Home Affairs Committee, said there needed to be a public inquiry.

He told Sky News: "The public are very clearly concerned and they won't be satisfied with another review by Home Office officials.

"Reviews like this often prove to be whitewashes.

"The Prime Minister should establish an over-arching review led by child protection experts to draw together the results from all these different case, investigations and institutional inquiries."

Calls for more to be done about allegations of child sex abuse by politicians have increased since the 2010 death of Liberal Democrat MP Cyril Smith, who was subsequently said to have been a paedophile.
